2025 Year in Review

In 2025, Liaison continued to bridge Japan with global health innovation through advocacy, community building, and hands-on innovation projects across Japan, Micronesia and beyond. This year, our small team convened partners, shared expertise on global health challenges, and advanced critical health digitization efforts. We are grateful to our partners, donors, and collaborators who made this work possible.

2025 Highlights: Advocacy, Community Building, Innovation

A. Advocacy: Strengthening Japan’s Voice in Global Health

In 2025, Liaison strengthened Japan’s presence in global health by elevating critical issues such as polio eradication and health equity through policy engagement, media, and international advocacy. 

  • Participated in two Gates Foundation Partners’ Meeting to strategize on strengthening Japanese engagement in global health funding and advocacy

  • Presented at the PoliPoli policy pitch event

  • Conducted interviews with 6 polio survivors in Nagasaki

  • Appeared on 8bitNews to discuss what youth can do to solve global health issues. Watch the full video here!

  • Represented Action Network at the 2025 Global Citizen Festival NYC

  • Contributed to Dr. Omi’s World Polio Day op-ed. Read it here

B. Community Building: Expanding Japan’s Global Health Network

Community building remained a core part of Liaison’s mission in 2025, as we convened experts, entrepreneurs, and researchers to foster collaboration across global health, innovation, and impact.

  • Hosted the second ever 2025 SelectUSA x ACCJ HxD Pitch Event

  • Sent Japanese startup AMI to the SelectUSA Investment Summit

  • Helped the first ever CrossFields workshop in Indonesia

  • Convened an offsite meeting with the HxD leaders and members to strategize on the future direction of the Initiative

  • Attended 5 Polio no Kai newsletter packing & regular meetings

  • Supported the first ever 2025 ACCJ HxD Mentorship Session

C. Innovation: Advancing Frontline Health Solutions

In 2025, Liaison’s innovation work centered on advancing digital health solutions that strengthen frontline care, with a particular focus on the Pacific. 

  • Led fieldwork trip to Kosrae State, FSM to advance the health digitization project

  • Supported Sky’s global innovation engagements (Boston, India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Thailand)

  • Submitted major grants: Iwasawa Prize, JICS, and JICA (Round 2)
