PROJECT DETAILS
Global Polio Eradication Initiative
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) is a public–private partnership dedicated to eradicating polio worldwide. Led by national governments, GPEI brings together six core partners: the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), UNICEF, the Gates Foundation, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
Liaison serves as GPEI’s advocacy partner in Japan, working to strengthen awareness and mobilize financial and political support from the Japanese government for global polio eradication efforts. Since 2021, Liaison has also acted as the secretariat for the Diet Task Force on Global Polio Eradication, a non-partisan caucus of Japanese Diet members. Beyond formal meetings at the National Diet, we organize creative advocacy events and submit policy requests to decision-makers, ensuring polio eradication and global health remain priorities on Japan’s international agenda.
Global Citizen Japan
Global Citizen is the world’s largest movement of action-takers focused on tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges, including access to education, global health, climate change, and food security. Through the Global Citizen app, individuals can take actions, such as signing petitions or participating in a beach cleanup, that contribute to real-world impact. Participants earn points that unlock rewards like exclusive experiences, merchandise, and tickets to major events such as the Global Citizen Festival.
Japan joined the Global Citizen movement in March of 2026 with a public activation in the heart of Shibuya, Tokyo. Liaison was proud to support the initiative, helping connect the global movement with audiences in Japan and encouraging new participants to take their first action.
