On March 2, Japan joined the Global Citizen movement with a public activation in the heart of Shibuya, Tokyo. The event introduced people to Global Citizen’s global community of action-takers working to end extreme poverty.

Liaison was proud to support the initiative, helping connect the global movement with audiences in Japan and encouraging new participants to take their first action.
Global Citizen is the world’s largest movement of action-takers focused on tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges, including access to education, global health, climate change, and food security. Through the Global Citizen app, individuals can take actions, such as signing petitions or participating in a beach cleanup, that contribute to real-world impact. Participants earn points that unlock rewards like exclusive experiences, merchandise, and tickets to major events such as the Global Citizen Festival.
The Shibuya activation transformed this idea of collective action into a powerful visual experience. Participants were invited to sign up as Global Citizens and personalize a tile with their name. Each tile was then placed onto a growing installation forming the Global Citizen logo. As the day progressed, the installation evolved into a visual reminder that small actions can create large and meaningful change.
With the launch of Global Citizen in Japan, a growing community of people is ready to take action and be part of a global effort to end extreme poverty.
