This event will bring together Japanese and African stakeholders to discuss how Japan can cooperate to eradicate polio, while highlighting the international leadership that Japan has played in global polio eradication efforts. Dr. Shigeru Omi (Regional Director of the Western Pacific Regional Office for the World Health Organization, Rotary Polio Eradication Ambassador) will give a keynote address, which will be followed by a panel discussion of global and local experts. Through these discussions, we will explore strategies to strengthen cooperation between Africa and Japan, strengthen health systems, and mobilize funds to eradicate polio, once and for all.
